Sculpture

Sculptural and public art works  by Britt Mikkelsen.

Britt explores the minutiae of nature, the things that are often ovelooked in our everyday existence.  Her work highlights the hidden beauty that exists in nature.

She uses resins, acrylics and plastics.  Lighting is an important component in her pieces.  She uses manmade light to create a sense of awe and more recently natural light and translucency have been explored.

Recent artworks investigate fossilisation and reimagine fossils as sculptural forms. Like exhibits in a natural history museum, each sculpture depicts our society in some way, trapped in a fossilised visage.

By combining natural and manmade materials she questions the role of man in nature.

Artworks are available from Stala Contemporary ,Gallows Gallery and The Studio Gallery, Yallingup or contact the artist directly.
